This week over at Dembrography will be more experimentation in the lomographic arts. I recently picked up a BlackBirdFly Toy camera (you can see the unboxing here) and the final verdict is: I totally dig it.
The camera has different frame inserts, so this week you’ll see some images that are square and some that are vertical rectangles. It’s definitely a plastic camera so quality is down and focus is hard to judge accurately (Focus is not represented in the viewfinder), but that’s all part of the fun. It even has a hotshoe mount, so you’ll see some images that I used an old flash to take (Important because the camera only has two aperture settings f7 and f11).
The other fun thing is how awkward it is to take images with a twin lens reflex. As you move the camera horizontally the image in the viewfinder moves in the opposite direction. If you’ve never used a TLR before it can take some getting used to, but if you pick one up for yourself, don’t worry – it’s supposed to be that way, it’s not broken.
